Nang pagtangkaang pagkakitaan ang pag-asa...

prospect of huge advertising revenues

+

war for higher ratings

+

strong desire to one-up rival noontime show

+

heavy promotional campaign promising millions of pesos to be given away

+

scores of TV-viewing public mind-conditioned every noontime to pin their hopes for a better future on freaking luck

+

economic crisis in substance despite economic recovery on paper

+

lack of concern for viewers who are just treated as "cannon fodder" in winning the network war

+

non-existent crowd control contingency plans

+

lack of discipline

+

lack of organization

+

well-meaning but untrained emergency response forces

+

insensitive "uzis" blocking the path of rescuers while waving to TV cameras to earn their few seconds of fame

=

a disaster waiting to happen

or as Paolo would say it

a happening waiting for a disaster

pedro, tama ka...
iyong iba, gagamitin pa ang sakuna para sa pansariling interes.
sabagay, lagi namang threats and opportunities are two sides of the coin.
